Deals make me smile...

When we moved back to Connecticut, we drove out here in our two cars (a Volkswagen New Beetle, and a Mitsubishi Outlander) and nothing else. No moving vans, no U-Haul trailers... just our two cars. We loaded those suckers to the gills, but we still didn't have enough room for everything we needed, let alone everything we wanted to bring. We made do! And it was a fun adventure. In fact, it was the easiest move in day we've ever had. And when you take into consideration that we have moved eight times in the four years that we've been married... you have a lot to compare it to. :-) At any rate, we've had to slowly rebuild our furniture and household goods since the big move.

Last Saturday, we finally bought a piece of furniture that I have been dreaming about for months. A box spring, and a bed frame! I know it sounds silly, but it was really one of the last pieces we needed to complete our bedroom. Most of our furniture was either free, or really inexpensive (more on that in a later post!) but our mattress was one of our big purchases. We bought a memory foam mattress (no, not the crazy expensive one from TV!) because I have a bad lower back. Up until last Saturday, we were just sleeping on that mattress on the floor. Not my favorite situation.

We were out on a date last week, and after finishing dinner (Jani restaurant in Norwalk, highly recommend!!) we noticed that the mattress store in the shopping center was going out of business. We stopped in to see if they had a box spring for cheap. Oh boy, did they! We ended up getting a $700 box spring for eighty bucks. Pretty sweet deal! Even cooler, since it was their very last night ever, they were clearing out everything... including some really nice pillows. We got Thomas a $600 memory foam pillow, a $200 memory foam pillow for me, and a $100 down pillow for me... for FIVE DOLLARS a piece. So, for a grand total of $15... three nice and expensive pillows. Love it! I had bought a sheet set for about $14 earlier that day too... so it was like a whole new sleeping experience when we got home. I LOVE it!

Just had to share. :-)

Wait-- what about your move-in day when you moved to stamford... didn't you just have 2 suitcases?? Jealous about the pillows!!!

We may have only had one suitcase, and and a couple of carry-on bags... but we also had to take the Subway, the train, and then walk about a mile or two in the snow to get to the apartment. It took us longer to get from JFK to the apartment than it did for us to get from Oregon to New York! This move-in day was WAY easier!
